10 Pinterest Beauty Hacks

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to my blog! You probably know my obsession with Pinterest is real. With that being said, I've come across several beauty hacks I can't not share with you all. These beauty hacks are life changing. I've even added some of them into my daily routine.



(+) Use hairspray to keep brows in place.

This. Is. Genius. I like to apply one squirt of hairspray onto my spoolie. Then, I just comb through my brows lightly. My brows stay in place all day. I am never not going to apply hairspray ever again.


(+) Use tape to guide eyeliner.

I'm not the best when it comes to apply eyeliner. So, I tried using tape to guide my wing. It turned out flawless. (I only do this when I'm in a pinch because it is time consuming.)


(-) Apply heat to your eyelash curler.

There is a very slight difference. My lashes hold a stronger curl.


(+) Shave your legs with olive oil.

Honestly, I will never go back.

First, I shave my legs with my regular shaving cream. Then, I follow up with an olive oil and shave for a second time. The results are instant. My legs are left feeling insanely smooth. Now, I never go into the shower without olive oil!


(-) Use frozen spoons to reduce puffy eyes.

I actually tried this hack pretty recently. I decided to put two spoons in the freezer prior to taking a bath. I wanted my eyes to be puffy free for my senior portraits.

Personally, I prefer to use a cold cloth. It's a lot more convenient. 


(+) Apply perfume behind your knee.

Supposedly, if you apply perfume to the back of your knees it's supposed to last much, much longer. This really does work! I'm either smelling of mangos or Taylor Swift's Wonderstruck Enchanted all day.


(+) Make your glossy lipstick matte.

After applying the glossy lipstick to your lips, apply a similar shade in a shimmer-free blush with your fingers. It instantly transforms your makeup look.


(+) Put your nail polish in the fridge.

Do this fifteen minute prior to applying it as it goes on smoother.


(+) Spritz some perfume on your hairbrush.

Apply one squirt of perfume on your hairbrush and run it through your hair a few times. Try to avoid your roots as it might make it greasy. This is great if you're in a rush to get out the door and in need of a quick pick me up.


(+) Clean your nails with a whitening toothpaste.

If your nails are slightly discolored, I would highly recommend this. Apply a whitening toothpaste to a nail scrub and begin scrubbing your nails. Within seconds your nails are pure white again.

My Junior Year Experience

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to my blog! I hope you're making the most of your summer vacation. I know I am! I've been working on summer assignments for my senior year, blogging, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.

This week I wanted to dive into the past and reminisce on my junior year. Sitting here now, I still don't know how I survived.

My Classes

CE Basic Nutrition

Honestly, the only reason I took this class was because I wanted to earn some college credit. I really enjoyed the class as a whole. I will admit, composing the final was my favorite part of the class. We had to create a diet analysis. Mine was 13 pages long, not including 7 pages of charts and graphs. I received all 150 points for the assignment. I was thrilled!

Honors English 11

This class mainly focused on literature as opposed to writing. It didn't suit my fancy personally, but I still liked it.

Academic Chemistry

I took regular chemistry because (1) I am not going to be a scientist and (2) junior year is stressful enough. I think it's okay to take one regular academic class. Colleges aren't going to kill you for it.  Right? This class was a breeze. 

Health/P.E

I learned a lot. Who knew? I thought health was going to be extremely boring, but no. My teacher made sex education pretty interesting (and not awkward). That's a plus!

Honors Pre-Calculous

Math is not my strong suit. I knew that from the 8th grade, but I still took advanced level courses because my mother insisted. I finished the year with a B, which isn't too bad. I could have done worse.

Honors American Studies

I've never been a history buff, like ever. This class wasn't my favorite- close to my least favorite to be honest, but that's okay. At least I got something out of it.

Introduction To Psychology

This class inspired my to take an even more in depth course this summer at my local community college. My career path has completely changed. I'm now considering studying psychology/psychiatry as opposed to journalism.

CE Spanish III

In all honesty this class was probably my favorite. Spanish is one of those subjects that comes naturally to me.  I really enjoyed dedicating my time to this class.

My Favorite Memories


My school hosts two dances each year: Homecoming and Harvest Ball. Harvest Ball is a pretty big deal. If I had to describe this year's Harvest Ball in one word it would be: magical.


In the beginning of April I got my license. I've been carting myself to the mall and to school ever since.

Accomplishments


I Never Gave Up

Sometimes, especially as a junior, it's easy to say, "I'm done" or "I quit". This year, I gave it my all. Every single day: I would come home and study, and study some more.

Keeping Up With The Blog

I am so happy I kept blogging a priority. It's so nice to have a corner of the internet that I can call my own. I love collaborating with other bloggers and meeting new people. I will continue to keep up with my blogging schedule throughout the summer too.

Taking On A Leadership Role

Towards the end of the school year, I decided to go out for an officer position. I am going to be the Vice President of Key Club next year. I'm looking forward to it!

My Grades

Junior year was a lot of hustle and bustle, but it all worked out in the end. My grades truly reflected how much effort and work I put in throughout the year. 


Overview


Overall, it was a pretty good year. I think every school year has had a significant impact on me:

In 9th grade, I realized who I was and who I wanted to be. In 10 grade, I realized you can't control anything or anyone. This year, I realized something even bigger: things do happen for a reason.

This year, I put the final pieces together. I know who I am and who I hope to become. Though, I can't control anyone or anything, things happen for a reason. God knows exactly what he is doing when he weaves certain people and events into your life. I can't thank Him enough for the things he has given me this year.

I am absolutely obsessed with this purse. Is it not the cutest purse you've ever seen? Kate Spade's game is definitely on point.


Lilly Pulitzer Starry Earrings 

Lilly Pulitzer is easily one of my favorite brands. The designs are not only preppy and sweet, but girly. That's my style completely. These earrings are dying to be worn to a family barbecue.


MICHAEL Savannah Small Crossbody Bag

I have a ton of Michael Kors purses; (1) They're fantastic quality and (2) they go with pretty much everything. I love the fact that this purse is a top handle and it's white. It's extra strap for cross body wear is also very convenient.


Lilly Pulitzer Phipps Leather Sandal

Are these sandals not adorable? I don't have any gold shoes, so that's my main reason for yearning for them. I want a gold sandal for dressier occasions, like family get togethers and date nights.


Henri Bendel Debutante Pearl Stud Earring

In all honesty, I've never even heard of Henri Bendel- but that's beside the point. I just want a pair of fake pearl earrings to wear daily. I'm probably going to purchase a pair from Target in the near future.


Lilly Pulitzer Printed Headband

Ever since I saw this headband in my local Hallmark store, I knew I had to have one. I think they're super cute! I'd love to wear this with a plain outfit to give it a pop of color.


Bar Triangle Pendant Three Layered Necklace

I really love the look of layered necklaces, especially for the summer time. Your outfit is instantly transformed into something chic and ready. Layered necklaces are also highly associated with a bohemian vibe- perfect for summer!


Kate Spade New York Faux Pearl Anchor Necklace

To be completely honest, I am a sailor at heart. I love being on the water. This necklace definitely expresses that.

Everyday 5 Minute Summer Makeup

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to my blog! Today I'm sharing my makeup look for summer with you. It's very, very natural, but leaves my skin glowing. I hope you like it!





Eucerin DAILY PROTECTION Broad spectrum SPF 30 Moisturizing Face Lotion


First, I start off with moisturizer. Not only is this brand dermatologist recommended, but it provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. The non-greasy formula leaves my skin looking healthy right from the get go.



Maybelline COVER STICK CORRECTOR CONCEALER IN GREEN

When I have some troublesome spots, I like to start off with a green correcting concealer to cancel out any redness. This concealer does just the trick.




Neutrogena SkinClearing Blemish Concealer


Skip the BB cream and skip the foundation. Chances are it's just going to melt off of your face anyway. Dab concealer over any imperfections. This concealer is one of my holy grail products. (I've been using it for the past three years now.)



DREAM WONDER POWDER


Powder is definitely an essential. It adds a matte finish to your complexion without weighing your face down. I like to apply this with my kabuki brush from Ulta Beauty.



Cargo Cosmetics Bronzer


Bronzer is key in order to achieve the illusion of glowing, tanned skin. I love this bronzer for a variety of reasons: not only is it animal cruelty free, but it adds a hint of shimmer. This is perfect for light contouring, and highlighting the sides of my nose.






High Beam Liquid Highlighter


Highlighter is another key product in order to achieve glowing skin. Benefit's High Beam is my favorite product of all time- without a doubt. I apply this on the top of my cheeks and bridge of my nose. I apply the excess product in the middle of my forehead and chin. It captures the light.






Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush


Because I went heavy with the bronzer and highlighter, I didn't want to use an intense blush. I chose this one from Physicians Formula because it was extremely natural. It didn't add too much of a shimmer or anything of that nature. I love the effect a subtle amount of pink has on my face.




Huge Extreme Lash Mascara


After curling my lashes, I apply a thin coat of my favorite Stila mascara. This mascara darkens, lengthens, and adds volume. What more could you want in a mascara?



Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 with Natural Mint & Shea Butter


To finish off my look, I apply some lip product. I absolutely love this lip balm, despite the fact it was designed for men. It smells so good! It leaves my lips feeling super soft. I love that it has SPF 25, too! Perfect for summer!

The Ultimate Guide To Summer 2016

What I'm Doing This Summer

Before I get into the body of this post I wanted to share what I'm doing this summer. Starting early July I am taking two summer courses at my local community college: Introduction to Psychology and Public Speaking. After class, I will either go home to study or go to my local hospital to volunteer my time.

Not the most fun summer, I know, but I'm working on earning college credit and building my resume. Hopefully all goes as planned.

→Victoria's Secret Polar Water Bottle

It's extremely important to stay hydrated, especially during the summer months. I use a polar bottle because it keeps my drink cold throughout my long summer days.


→Yoins Navy Cami Swing Chiffon Dress

I actually don't own this dress, but I do own several spaghetti strapped dresses. They're perfect for summer. Very breezy! I love throwing them on before class.


→Kate Spade Watches Metro Watch

I love this Kate Spade watch, yet I don't own it. I own a Michael Kors watch which is extremely similar. I love, love, love it! It's the perfect accessory when I'm in need of something rose gold and girly.


→La Blanca Black Draped Swimsuit

Now I do own this bathing suit. Yes, it's a little bit pricier than most suits, but worth it. I got it 2-3 years ago and it's still in great condition. A classic black one piece is an essential. They're perfect for the beach or family barbecues!


→Michael Michael Kors Logo Stud Flip Flops

I wear these shoes everywhere! They go with absolutely everything! Black flip flops are a must. If you're looking to invest in a good quality pair, Michael Kors has a broad selection.


→MICHAEL Michael Kors Jet Set logo-Print Tote

I've used this bag for most of the spring season. I'm going to continue to use it during the summer season too! I love how spacious it is. It's perfect for holding my water bottle, wallet, keys, books, iPad, pens, etc. for class.


→Lilly Pulitzer In The Bungalows Key Fob

I have a Lilly Pulitzer key chain in a different print. I'm obsessed with it! I want to get my hands on the starfish one. It's so cute!


→Nyx Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream

I love wearing the bear minimum for makeup during the summer. Concealer, powder, and gloss is really all I need. Oh, and maybe some mascara! These matte lip creams aren't too heavy. They're perfect of just a hint of color and shine.


→All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray

I am currently on my fourth bottle of this product. It's amazing! I'm obsessed. During the hot months my makeup sweats right off of my face. With this in hand, it lasts for several hours.



Be Spontaneous This Summer

If you're not going to be on the move throughout the summer, bored you be not:
  • Go on a hike
  • Teach yourself a new language (Duolingo)
  • Watch the sunset/sunrise
  • Backyard movie night
  • Make homemade ice-cream
  • Have a bonfire and don't forget to roast marshmallows
  • Go to a festival
  • Volunteer
  • Go to the beach
  • Start a garden
